Working Minors
Rules regulating the employment of minors are contained in WAC Chapter 296-125.
The minimum age for employment in the state of Washington is fourteen, WAC 296-125-018.
The number of hours a minor may work is outlined in WAC 269-125-027.
WAC
269-125-027 (3) "Sixteen- and seventeen-year-old minors who have been issued
a certificate of educational competence pursuant to RCW
28A.305.190 (GED), are enrolled in a bona fide college program (Running
Start), are named on a valid certificate of marriage, or are shown as the parent
on a valid certificate of birth may work as would be permitted during school
vacations."
