Fair Runs Sept 1-24, 2023 (closed Tues and Sept 6)
The Washington Homeschool Organization has once again coordinated with the Washington
State Fair for free tickets to homeschoolers. Please precisely follow this procedure for getting
tickets:
First, please contact your local school district for tickets. If you reside in Eastern Washington,
you will need to request tickets directly from the Washington State Fair by following the
directions listed below, as tickets are not sent to school districts on the Eastside.
Districts on the Westside are required to include homeschoolers in their ticket order from the
Washington State Fair. If you are not sure your district receives tickets, please contact
vernenes@thefair.com to check.
If the district does not honor your request for tickets or you reside in Eastern Washington, send
the following to:

Puyallup, WA 98371-0162:
1. A copy of your “Declaration of Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction” You can use
your 2022-2023 Declaration since you are not required to file one for the 2023-2024
school year until September 15th, 2023. (This must have the school district logo on it.)
2. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive your tickets.
3. If you have 6 & 7-year olds, you just need to send a note to the fair listing the name and
age of the child.
4. Give the reason why the district did not honor your request for tickets. Eastern Washington homeschoolers can ignore this.
5. Include the name and phone number of district person you spoke with.
6. Please include a note with your name and phone number.
7. You will receive one ticket per student, plus one Educational Employee Ticket per home,
in your return envelope.
Requests must be postmarked no later than Friday, August 25th.
REQUESTS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE WILL BE PROCESSED AS RECEIVED AND
NOT GUARANTEED TO ARRIVE TO YOU BEFORE FAIR IS COMPLETED.
One ticket will be issued for each student age 6 through 18, and one adult pass per family.
Children under 6 years old are free. The tickets may be used any day, including Saturday and
Sunday.
Please note: Washington State Fair staff has advised us that there is some abuse of free fair
tickets. Some homeschoolers are receiving tickets from multiple sources. Please honor the rules
of the Educational Ticket Program and take only one ticket per student (and one educator ticket)
from one organization so we may continue to receive this educational benefit from The Fair.
