Homeschoolers of Washington,
2020 has been a year of change for everyone worldwide, and we in the Washington Homeschool Organization have had many transitions as well. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we canceled our annual conference for the first time since we were founded 35 years ago, instead adding informational videos to our website and offering a virtual exhibit hall. We have also responded to an unprecedented surge in interest in homeschooling as families searched for options other than virtual public school.
This year we are doing many things to meet that demand. We have lowered our annual membership price to $10 from $40 to make it affordable for every homeschooler in Washington state. We continued to offer a qualifying course for homeschooling and added one additional course time. Total enrollment in the qualifying course quadrupled over 2019 and required the support of several board members. In addition, we are in the process of upgrading our website to make it easier to navigate and the information easier to access. We know the importance of staying current with technology, especially in the present world where everything is distance.
I’m writing because it’s time for WHO’s Annual Membership and Fundraising drive. We have set a goal of raising $25,000 through memberships and donations to help our nonprofit organization serve the homeschooling community of Washington state.
If you have ever consulted our web site, liked one of our posts on Facebook, attended our annual conference, participated in the WHO High School Graduation ceremony, emailed or called us to answer a homeschooling question, attended a free program at a local library or community center, or applied for the Emmett Comer Scholarship, please consider becoming a member or making a donation to WHO. We rely on memberships and donations to help meet our operating costs, so we really can’t do it without you. A membership only costs $10 a year, and we appreciate donations of any amount.
Please consider supporting us in supporting the homeschoolers of Washington.
